Consider the generic version of your over the counter medication
This from my friend and colleague who has worked in the pharmacy world. While we tend to have especially strong brand trust to medication, I have made an effort to buy the generic version of some over the counter medication. It’s a considerable savings that offers the same relief. It’s often a 25% or more difference in price. A good bottom line can be good for your health too.
As for the behind the counter meds, if your doctor is prescribing medication, ask about the generic options. If they are suitable, they can reduce your costs. Pharma is big business – and much of the big name medication pricing is based on branding, packaging and advertising – just consider the cost of those commercials on prime time TV. If you buy those, you pay for that too. And if you need meds, you’ve probably got enough to pay for already.
